A practical guide to housing through financial education
This resource, developed by Young Enterprise and funded by the TDS Charitable Foundation, is for teachers and other financial education providers.
It will help you help young people aged 14-19 understand:
• the financial implications of renting or buying a home, and
• the different choices available.
The first part of the resource explores the key factors involved in making the transition into independent living through the use of four case studies which aim to illustrate a range of independent living options and the choices involved in these.
The second half of the resource offers a range of practical activities and opportunities that can be used with young people to support teaching and learning.
Towards the end of the resource there is a glossary section which provides additional information and ideas on the four case studies, and further information about housing options and the terminology associated with independent living.
